Final Reflection

After this semester I really can say that I am more knowledged on my computer skills.  I learned certain things and shortcuts to Excel and Publisher that I never knew before.  I gained more exposure to Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Publisher.  I actually never used Publisher so it was all new to me.  One project that really interested me was the storytelling project.  We had to insert a voice and video into my personal video which was a challenge at first but then was easier once I figured it out.  The most useful I think to me would be the webpage just because its a good way of showing the public what you are offering or simply just putting up information.  Lastly, another tool I never knew existed was Jing which is actually really neat and I will use it for future purposes.  Overall this class is very beneficial and is going to be very useful in the many years ahead.

Final Reflection

Over the course of this semester in Digital Applications class I have learned a lot about various different computer programs. This class has really furthered my knowledge and helped me a lot. Going into this class I knew a decent amount about different programs, and this class really taught how to fully take advantage of all the features of these programs.
Most of all Digital Applications has helped me learn all about the various programs that are part of Microsoft Office. Before this class I knew how to use Microsoft Word to write papers. But now I can use it for so much more, like making flyers for events. Also, I have learned a lot about Microsoft PowerPoint. I went into this course knowing how to put together basic PowerPoint presentations with bullet points and pictures. But after taking this course I now know how to add music, embed videos, put different transitions into new slides and even put music over the whole slideshow.
Before this class started I had never used Microsoft Publisher before, and now I can use it like a pro. After learning to use Publisher to make a pamphlet in Digital Apps, I knew how to do all sorts of things like add borders, edit picture backgrounds, etc.; all vital parts in making a great pamphlet.
In Digital Applications this past semester I was required to make a digital storytelling project. This project got me to learn how to use the iMovie program, which I had never used before, on my Macbook. This program will definitely be helpful in the future for projects or any occasion that requires me to make a video. In this program I learned how to add pictures, video, voiceovers, and how to lay music over the whole thing.
So, as you can see, this class has taught me a lot about vital programs on the computer that I thought I knew a lot about already. The knowledge I have gained in this class with definitely help me in the rest of my career at Nichols College and my professional career in the future. Thank you Professor Fleury-Lawson.

Blog 5 Reflection

Professor Fleury-Lawson every since coming to your class I've learned a lot about computer programs, myself, and a little bit about responsibilities. From being in your class I have learned about a lot of things I didn't know about before, such as how many things Microsoft Word has. When I did the flyer project I learned how to take a picture and strictly crop out the back ground. Another thing I did in the flyer project was add borders to anything like a picture. However the project I learned the most from was the Storytelling I had never ever used or heard of the program Movie Maker. Even before the project I never thought I was capable of such things as making a video and posting it to YouTube. I surprised my self greatly, the hardest projects to do was the Website one and the Excel project when we took every ones information down. They were the hardest because they kept deleting after I would do them especially the Website one. I did the website at least three or four times. The excel project I didn't have to do as many times but it was a hassle when I had to sit outside the lunch room and call people aside to ask them personal information about school. But the most important thing I learned from Digital Apps is to be on time and submit my work on time, because if I don't I'll fail miserably, for example with the brochure I almost lost a lot of points on my grade because I handed in a hard copy from there I was more responsible and decided to get everything in on time.

Aruba

I've gone on vacation almost every year with my parents since I can remember. Every year that we go on vacation we always go to Florida. As nice as Florida is, it would be nice to go somewhere else for once. Don't get me wrong, I love Florida, but if I to pick a dream vacation, I would love to go to Aruba.

Aruba just seems like such a beautiful and warm place to be. I love just laying at the beach, relaxing and tanning. Every time that I go to Florida, I'm always doing something constantly. Even if I'm outside, I'm always moving around. I never get to just sit back and relax on the beach. Every time I get back home, no one even thinks I went on vacation because I'm still really white. I would love to go to Aruba and just relax and not have to be constantly doing something.

Aruba also isn't really that far away. Not that long plane rides bother me at all, but it's still no fun to have to be on a plane for half on the day when you could be relaxing in the sun. It's only a little bit longer of a plane ride than it is to Florida. It also isn't like going across the country where you have to worry about time zone changes. Since it's not that far away, its also no that much more expensive than going to Florida. It's only a hundred dollars more round trip to fly into Aruba versus flying into Florida. The only downside to going to Aruba verses Florida is that you have to go through the hassle of getting a passport if you don't already have one. Other than that, I would love to go to Aruba one day.

Tampa

Tampa, Florida

If I where to pick a dream vacation it would be in Tampa Bay, Florida.  I love the warm weather always have even though I live in Connecticut.  I just wasnt made for the New England weather.   The houses down there are mostly single family homes. They range from $50,000 - $300,000. I would like to live in downtown Tampa Bay somewhere.

I only went there one time and it was actually last summer with my friends from home.We took a Jet Blue plane down to Orlando from Logan international airport. The flight cost us $350 for both ways. We got to Orlando 15 minutes early. It was defiantly worth it to go.  I went to Orlando but we went to Tampa to go to busch gardedns. After that we drove around a little to see what else there is to do.  It was a smaller city but a very clean one. You had to drive a little bit to get to the nearest beach. The nightlife is amazing overall in Florida but Tampa I was very impressed with.  It's like I can see my self living there.

Tampa has so much stuff to do which included nightclubs, bars, movie theaters, amusment parks, bowling, restaurants, ect.  It was really nice when I went we went to a resturant and inside there had good hamburgers. The beaches were really nice.  I would like to live there for sure after i graduate college id love to get a job in Tampa.
